As a regular follower of our island life you know that we had a goal when we moved to the Hawaiian Islands to get in the best shape of our lives and develop bodies that we’d be proud to be seen in at the beach or just shirtless around town.
A few months back we started P90X (by a company called Beach Body interestingly enough) and have been doing our daily workouts and following (mostly) the recommended nutritional guidelines laid out for the program. It has been a lot of work but I am amazed at what we can do now that we could not dream of pulling off when we started the program. I even started P90X doubles about a month and a half ago which adds an hour or cardio 3-days a week in addition to the normal routines that still have to be done.
I also get asked a lot about our progress and people always want pictures because so many of the readers of this blog and friends of ours live far away from the islands. I have tended to respond to inquiries with generalizations about how healthy we feel and have not offered up a lot of details or any pictures… until now. I was going to pose nude but decided a picture that showed what I’d actually be wearing at the beach or on our paddle boards would be more appropriate… so email me if you want the nudes… LOL.
So obviously this is not an end of program picture and we have plenty of work to do still but I think we are making nice progress. When compared to the before images which I will never ever release these new photos are quite impressive. I have added between one-half to one full inch to most muscle groups when flexed and have lost enough bulk around my waist that none of my shorts fit me anymore and I have to use belts to keep my shorts up until I reach my final new pant size. It is so nice to notice real muscle tone and leanness in both of our bodies.
We’re going to continue the program through the summer and are seriously considering P90X2 when it comes out this fall. At 47 I really am in the best physical shape of my life and I am quite proud of both of us and the progress we have made. It feels good to feel and see results and we’re looking forward to a lot of great beach days in our future!

Inspirational. At the moment i’m kind of at the other end of the journey. Having spent most of my life in truly incredible shape, right now I’m doing the not hitching my pants and hoping the belt will cover it routine. For me it’s a matter of available time, since I’ve never been a great dieter. I’ve always relied on exercise to regulate my weight.
Mahalo Hunt. I hear what you say about time… and fortunately I have had some of it although these damn workouts do tend to interfere with the rest of life sometimes in terms of time or we’re just too damn tired to do other things. Lynn had a late meeting today and by the end of his workout it was after 4 which kind of screwed up some plans… oh well such is life. We also have been physically active for years because we just found it made us feel better all around. Our diet on this program ADDED over a thousand calories a day to our normal diet but was strict on where those calories came from. It was a challenge at first consuming as many calories as we needed but now our metabolism’s are ramped and it is easier and we have to have the calories to do the routines. It’s become part of our lives now that we’ve been committed to the routine for months now.
Doesn’t look like a 47 yr. old bod to me! Way to go, boys!
Thank you Kinikia!
Wowsie!! Proud of you and Lynn!! Keep with it!!! As I’ve found out,, the older we get, when you stop or “take a break” from exercise, dang all that effort goes down the drain quick! LOL
Isn’t aging a bitch? LOL. Thanks for the comment and it really only takes about half the effort to maintain as it does to build the muscle and lose those bulges in all the wrong places. And like you once told me once you have done something for 60 days it becomes part of your lifestyle and you tend to keep it up.
OK, braggart. Time to post something else! I’m getting dehydrated from all the drooling.
Sorry Wayne I did’t mean to just stop… I have had company and have been staying busy. Will get a new post up soon!
