I know many of our readers are from the mainland and in areas that are colder than a witches… uh… well you know. Others are here on the Big Island of Hawaii but are in areas where it has been crazy wet for several weeks now. Meanwhile here in Kona we have been enjoying slightly cooler temperatures and bight blue sunny skies.
I took this picture down by the pier to show how we roll here in Kona two days before Christmas. I’m not trying to rub it in or anything but I thought you might derive some enjoyment (or warmth) from seeing it. I spent yesterday morning in this very spot as I took my friend Travis out SUP’ing on the bay before I went to work. Christmas morning we’ll be back for more!
Anyway Mele Kalikimaka and Happy New Year to you all! I sincerely hope you all have absolutely amazing new years! And I am really looking forward to seeing a lot of you in 2012 right here on Hawaii Island! Aloha!

That does look nice. I’m seriously thinking that someday I’ll follow your example and go leeward. It all depends on the winter. Last year was great over here. This year…not so great.
On the other hand, it’s important to always realize that it’s not minus 10 and snowing.
An interesting comparison is that we went to Volcano yesterday and it had been raining for weeks and was cold and windy. We had also gone there about the same time last year and it was dry and the weather was beautiful. Yep never know. I would not necessarily bail from the windward side just because of one weird winter weather pattern. Still… it is lovely over here
