A Creative Solution for the Bar

We’ve been looking for a piece of furniture to serve as a bar since we moved into the new house in March. We found a sweet piece at Kaloko Furniture a while back but it was more than we wanted to spend. Since then we have looked all over the place and just have not found the right piece for this spot. We’ve also had a hard time justifying the $500-$1000 costs. I know that is not a lot of money but we have had a lot of unexpected expenses lately and there are a lot of other things we need and want. We’re also TRYING to be responsible and keep our savings in tact in case we really need to depend on it.

Anyway I got to thinking and came up with the idea of buying these floating shelves to serve as a bar. It was an inexpensive solution (under $100) and solved the problem, at least for now. The shelves match the other furnishings in the area, fit the space well and work perfectly for what we needed. Should we find that perfect piece of furniture later we can just use the shelves elsewhere. It also takes some pressure off and allows us to take all the time we need to find the right thing… or we may just stick with this!
